Socialization is very important for animals to grow up to be loving and trusting. We handle our kitties from just about day 2.

All kitties are born deaf and blind until their eyes start opening at 10 days old. We hold, feel and breath and kiss our kitties from the beginning to get them used to humans. It's amazing when 1 day olds hiss!!! They smell great and that's how they find their mommas milk. The most crucial time for socialiation is between 2 and 7 weeks.

Our kitties are raised in our home with our family, friends, dogs and lots of noise. They are used to vaccuum cleaners, washers, dryers, you name it. We encourage action around them and lots of handling. They snuggle in bed with us and lay on our laps a lot!!! We think that the way an animal is raised affects it for the rest of it's life. We love our pets to be loving and trusting. Taming a little wild kitty is definately possible, but not always.

So, if you don't get a kitty from us, we highly recommend you find someone who has handled their kitties alot and kids are helpful in that area too, in the right way. Hiding a litter in a cage is NOT our style. Socialization is part of their foundation. Most of our cats don't run and hide when company comes over... they like to be right out in the action. There's nothing like a loving kitty!!!
